La Locanda del Capitano was established in 1997 when my wife Carmen and I decided to start a new life together in a small hamlet in Umbria. We were entranced by the dimensions, the quality of life and the importance of human rapport that is Montone. We were drawn by this spectacular village dating back to 1100 AD and wanted to make it our home.

And now Giancarlo is affectionately known as "il Capitano" by the people of Montone, there are now two small "future captains" to complete the family, Gianmarco and Edoardo. Here in Montone we all live just two steps from heaven.
