Montone is situated in Northern Umbria, in the region known as the Upper Tiber Valley, 30km. north of Perugia on the E45 motorway which runs north-south through Umbria from Orte to Ravenna and is the main road-link with the rest of Italy. It connects to Italy's main north-south artery the Autostrada del Sole ("A1") via Perugia-Bettole, Arezzo and Orte. From the E45 main roads lead to all the major Umbrian centers: Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, Foligno, Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto, Terni and to thenearbyTuscany and Marche regions.
By Train: Main connections to the Italian rail network are provided by Central Umbrian Railways via Umbertide station (only 9km away) and Italian State Railways via Ponte S. Giovanni and Terontola.
By Bus: daily departures from Umbertide (9km) for Rome and Florence. Local bus routes provide connections to nearby centres.
By Plane: the S.Egidio airport (40 km) connect London three times a week and Milan daily.
